Interior Stair Trends for 2018

Blog-2-feature-image.jpg

We’re already well into 2018 and it’s been a great start to the year here at Custom Spaces. There’s been a lot of interest around unique and different stair designs.  We are a little obsessed with stairs here at Custom Spaces and it shows. Our team works on stairs day in, day out and we like to think we are pretty damn good at it too. So, we’ve pulled together some of the coolest stair trends set to shape 2018.

COLOURED GLASS

Make a statement with a pop of colour in your glass installation. Simple metal rods can help support the floating stairs providing minimal interruption of the coloured glass. These panels tend to soften the overall aesthetic, letting you to look through the bold tint choice and commanding you to look at nothing else.

A coloured, laminated tempered glass system can make any space stand out.  When integrated into a staircase design it can take on all sorts of different styles from traditional to modern.

METAL

Stairs with metal balustrades will make it big in 2018. Keeping lines simple, these metal designs will tie one part of your home to the other with ease.  With a sense of industrial it’s not for every space, these would work well in modern edgy homes.

SCANDI

The Scandinavian design trend maximises use of natural light-coloured woods that reflect light and gives the illusion that spaces look larger than they really are. Inspired by the modern style of the Nordic regions – a staircase would present this minimalist style effortlessly.

SHOW STOPPERS

If you have the guts, the budget and the space – go all out with a show stopping staircase. Materials could include terrazzo, metal, concrete and mixed natural woods.
